Hanging Tips

Different species of birds prefer to nest at different heights. Most birds likely to use these feeders nest between 6 and 15 ft off the ground. Feeders should be mounted at least 6 feet off the ground to deter predators and pests. It is important to hang the feeder in a location that is not in the direct afternoon sun. Mounting on the north or east side of a tree or post will usually avoid direct sunlight during the hottest part of the day.

Care and Cleaning Tips

Use hot water, dish soap and a soft brush to clean the feeder (no harsh cleaners or bleach). Rinse thoroughly with clean water. Dry completely before refilling and hanging. Though the feeder is frost-proof, it is recommended it be taken in for the winter months after the fall cleaning.
