This innovative home can be used as a nesting box in the summer, and quickly altered to a resting spot for the winter. For winter use, the entrance hole should be located at the bottom of the home. This allows warm air to rise and remain inside, rather than escape. Three perches offer room for several birds to roost at once. In warmer months, remove the perches and invert the front panel, aligning it with the base instead of the roof of the house. This allows warm air to escape, keeping the home cool in summer. A small gap at the top of the door offers more ventilation, and the slate guard around the entrance hole discourages squirrels. The slanted roof keeps water out of the box, and the front panel lifts easily for cleaning and nest checks. The "L" shaped metal hook holds the door closed if necessary, and the included metal hanger makes installation simple. Hang this home on a building, post, or tree, and secure it with additional screws. The solid eastern white pine construction will never need painted or stained, and will add a natural touch to your sanctuary. NABS (North American Bluebird Society) Approved. Made in the USA
